Due to Minecraft's default settings, if your 36 slots (bottom right) are full ALL ITEMS YOU WILL GET WILL BE DROPPED ON THE FLOOR OR DESTROYED. So to avoid this unfortunate problem, remember to regularly move your items in the red circle below to the extra storage rectangle above so that your lower inventory is NEVER full.
Just note that your secondary inventory has a maximum of 2000 places by default. You will soon have the possibility to improve its size with your gold pieces.
